It seems to me that this is more of a rhetorical trick, and to actually end the Russia-Ukraine war, not just in 24 hours but even within a few months, will be practically impossible. Trump might try, but the question is, at what cost, and not everything here will depend on him.

Negotiations that confirm Ukraine's defeat will suit Putin... The chances that such negotiations will take place, that Ukraine will agree to Russia's demands, not only those that were voiced by him 3 months ago, but also those demands that were in the Istanbul agreements, are slim. Ukraine will not agree to this... Ukraine will not agree to end the war on the terms that would suit Putin.
